Friday Finds is a weekly meme from MizB over at Should be Reading. Bloggers are invited to showcase books ‘found’ and added to their To Be Read (TBR) list… whether they were found online, or in a bookstore, or in the library — wherever! (And they aren’t necessarily books you purchased).
I just had to respond to this challenge today as I was lucky enough to spend a wonderful hour or two of my day off browsing in a bookshop. I was there to buy some birthday and Christmas presents but then I came across a book that really must have been written for me! It looks a fascinating read about the languages of Europe, word borrowing into English and the like.
Obviously I can’t tell you much about it yet, but I skimmed through and wanted nothing more than to sit down with it and start reading straight away. But it’s squirrelled away after I hinted strongly to the family that they needed to buy this book for someone for Christmas. So it’s now hidden and I’ll have to get another copy as I really had bought it as a present for someone else!
